प्रश्न 1. मैंडलीफ़ की आवर्त सारणी के मुख्य लक्षणों को लिखिए|
उत्तर: मैंडलीफ़ ने तत्वों को क्षैतिज कतार में उनके बढ़ते हुए परमाणु द्रव्यमान के क्रम में सजाया| सभी उदग्र स्तम्भों में एक समान गुण वाले तत्वों को रखा| इस सारणी की मुख्य विशेषताएँ निम्नलिखित हैं:-
(a) समूह एवं उपसमूह:- आवर्त सारणी में 8 समूह हैं| I से VII समूहों को दो उपसमूहों में बाँटा गया हैं|
(b) आवर्त सारणी में आवर्तो की संख्या 7 हैं जिसे 1,2,3,4,5,6 और 7 के नाम से जानते हैं|
प्रथम आवर्त - 2 तत्त्व
द्वितीय आवर्त - 8 तत्त्व
तृतीय आवर्त - 8 तत्त्व
चौथा आवर्त - 18 तत्त्व
पांचवां आवर्त - 18 तत्त्व
छठा आवर्त - 32 तत्त्व
सांतवा आवर्त - अधूरा आवर्त
प्रश्न 2: आवर्त सारणी के कुछ विशिष्ट लक्षणों को लिखिए|
उत्तर: आवर्त सारणी के कुछ विशिष्ट लक्षण इस प्रकार हैं:-
(i) पहले की तुलना में तत्वों को विशेष प्रकार से समूहों एवं आवर्तों में रखा गया हैं|
(ii) इस प्रकार के वर्गीकरण से बहुत सारे तत्वों के गुणों का अनुमान लगाया गया|
(iii) बहुत से तत्वों के परमाणु द्रव्यमानो में संशोधन किया गया|
(iv) नये तत्वों के खोज की संभावना बढ़ी एवं नए तत्वों की खोज भी हो गई|
