The Number of Noun

Number (वचन) : The noun which shows about one or more than one number is called number. 

वह संज्ञा जो केवल एक या एक से अधिक संख्या को दर्शाते हैं, वचन कहलाता है | 

Examples: 

These nouns show only one  number.

यें सभी संज्ञा एक को दर्शातें हैं : 

A goat

A boy

A man

A woman

A pen 

These nouns  show more than one numbers.

ये सभी संज्ञा एक से अधिक को दर्शातें हैं : 

Goats

Boys

Girls

Pens

Men

Women

Pens

अत: इंग्लिश ग्रामर में Number (वचन) दो प्रकार के होते है:- 

(1) Singular Number: Such noun which shows signle object or counting is called singular number. 

Example: Hen, Keyboard, mouse, Laptop, tree, egg, watch, window, rubber, book, table, bag, animal, man, boy, girl, wish, hand, bus, house, pen etc. 

(2) Plural Number: Such noun which shows two or more than two counting is called plural number. 

Example: Hens, keyboards, mouses, laptops, trees, eggs, watches, windows, rubbers, books, tables, bags, animals, men, boys, girls, wishes, hands, buses, houses, pens etc. 

1. कुछ plural जैसे दिखने वाले words हमेशा सिंगुलर की तरह ही व्यवहार किया जाता है | 

जैसे - 

News, summons, economics, mathematics, politics, statistics, ethics, acoustics, linguistics, physics, classics, athletics, biliards, dominoes, draughts, bowls, darts etc.

(i) Economics is the best subject.

(ii) Mathematics is a tough subject.

(iii) This news is old.
