Rules for Degrees of Comparison (-er / -est)
Generally, short adjectives (one syllable and some two-syllable adjectives) form their Comparative and Superlative Degrees by adding -er and -est.

Rules for Degrees of Comparison (More / Most)
Generally, adjectives having two or more syllables form their Comparative and Superlative Degrees by using more and most instead of adding -er and -est.
